Where should we go to eat?

The staff at Moods Hair Salon love to discover unique restaurants that offer a high food quality and a great atmosphere. Here are some of our favourites. Most of our choices are in the category of up-scale casual.

Bao Bei : 163 Keefer Street 604.688.0867

It’s Chinese countryside meets French bistro with a little throwback to Chinatown’s heyday. Similar to an izakaya, the popular Japanese drinks and tapas bars, but the Chinese kind of way.

Vij's : 1480 w.11th. Ave 604.736.6664
One of the continent's top Indian-inspired restaurants. A must-visit for culinary tourists to Vancouver. Everything on the menu is excellent. Vij's brings Indian food into the realm of contemporary cuisine.

Les Faux Bourgeois: 663 E. 15th Ave. 604.873.9733

With classic fare and inexpensive wines, this busy restaurant is everything it should be, familiar, filling and inexpensive.

Chambar Restaurant : 562 Beattie Street 604.879.7119

With its exposed brick, sand-blasted beams, and fir floor, Chambar resonates heritage Vancouver. The kitchen, however, offers a cosmopolitan mix of Asian, African, and European flavours accompanied by a beverage list that includes experimental cocktails and Belgian beers.

Nuba : 207B West Hastings at Cambie 604.688.1655

Nuba’s energy is infectious – from the colourful food to the kicking music, Lebanese cuisine at its best.

Raw Canvas : 1046 604.687.1729 Hamilton Street

Raw Canvas is an oddity in the midst of the glam Yaletown gestalt. It's a tapas and wine bar, plus an atelier-like space where non-artists can listen to music and paint with materials provided, or sign up for a painting class, or ask the artist-in-residence for painting tips.

Salt Tasting Room : 45 Blood Alley, Gastown 604.633.1912

Sensational wine and cheese hot spot. Located discreatly in a cobblestone alley, Salt offers a modern space serving impressive cheese, cured meat and condiment tasting plates.

Judas Goat : 27 Blood Alley, Gastown 604.681.5090
This spanish inspired tapas bar, down from Salt, was intended to be a stopover for a drink and a bite on the way to more obvious neighbouring destinations by owner Sean Heather. Instead, the diminutive stainless steel, grey-trimmed, 28 seater has itself become the destination.

Campagnolo : 1020 Main Street 604.484.6018

From the award -winning team behind Fuel Restaurant comes their newest effort on lower Main Street.

The 90 seat venue, designed by Marc Bricault (Vij's, Moods 1996), is large and airy, but simple and beautiful. A quality Italian menu in a modern and comfortable space.

Gudrun : 150-3500 Moncton Street, Steveston 604.272.1991

A hidden gem in Steveston. Patrick from Gudrun brings his own passion for beautiful food and simple and modern design, still maintaining a warm and energetic atmosphere.

This isn’t where you’d come for a full course dinner, nor is it a lounge. It is a social arena.

Hapa Izakaya : 1479 Robson Street 604.689.4272
Modulated Japanese bistro cuisine in a beautiful black-on-black modern room. The food is unique and tasty!

This French bistro in Gastown offers a menu that is traditional bistro in an authentically French atmosphere.  The building has both the ambiance of patina and age as it has been around since the turn of the 20th century.

Lolita's: 1326 Davie Street 604.696.9996

Cantina style mexican food with extrodinary tasty twists.

Habit : 2610 Main Street
A friendly modern atmosphere paired with a unique tapas style menu gives this restaurant a relaxed and social feel. The brunch is highly recommended!
